You’ve met a few of us already during the hiring process, but there is a whole team of directors that work to pull off camp, and we’ll be introducing them to you in each newsletter!
First up: the man, the myth, and the legend - Jimboy! His great-grandfather founded camp in 1920, and together with his incredible wife, Dr. Margaret, he calls Greystone home all year long.
Hear from him in this quick video and Q+A below. Have a question for Jimboy or just want to say hi? - he’d love to hear from you!
You’ve gone through the interview process, signed your contract, and committed yourself to Greystone this summer, but you may be wondering: what happens next? What can I do now to prepare to be a counselor? That’s what these newsletters are for!
In each month’s newsletter, we’ll share a few key ways to get ready for the summer ahead. Follow along with us here, and you’ll feel like an expert come May. Have questions before then or want to chat? Just reach out!
We’re still hiring for our summer 2025 team, but spaces are filling up fast. Do you have a friend who would be perfect for this job? We’d love to meet her (or him!).
Refer a new-to-Greystone friend to us through this form, and if we hire her for at least two sessions, you’ll receive an extra $500 on your final paycheck! It’s a total win-win. This amount can compound if you refer multiple friends, so start spreading the word!
Have you already referred another staff member to us for this summer? Make sure you’ve filled out the referral form to make it official. Working at camp is more fun with friends, and we’d love to meet yours!
Lots of things, but most of all that it is going to be great! Hundreds (and hundreds!) of campers cannot contain themselves - they’re so excited to get back to camp and meet YOU. When we think about this group, there’s no doubt in our minds that you are going to be an incredible staff. The Lord has brought you to this job for a reason, and He is going to prepare you for it and use you in it.
On top of that, just know that we are your biggest fans and will be throughout this year and into the future! We are going to tell you everything you need to know as we get closer to the summer and will do anything we can to help you before, during, or after camp.
Essentially, we are going to take care of you and will do anything we can to help make this summer wonderful for you! So stay in touch, let us know if you’re concerned about anything, and start counting down to the best summer ever with us.
As we’ve said, we want you to come into the summer feeling completely prepared (and excited!) for the job ahead, and part of that is making information about camp and your role as a staff member available for you to reference whenever you’d like.
We’ll be breaking down our 2025 Staff Manual into manageable sections that we’ll be sharing each month in the newsletter. We’d encourage you to click through these pages now or bookmark them for later. This month, we’re giving you some general information about what Greystone is all about and who you’ll meet here this summer.
At camp we believe prayer is powerful, so every month until the summer we want to lift up a particular topic to the Lord. Let’s give this summer to Him from the very beginning!
To kick off our months of prayer, there’s no better topic than to pray for our campers! Just wait until you meet them. They are the sweetest, funniest, smartest, most incredible people on this planet, and spending time with them this summer will make your year.
Start praying with us specifically for the campers who will be arriving on Opening Day. Pray for any nerves they may have as they think about returning to Greystone (or coming for the very first time!). Pray that they will make friends, learn new skills, and experience growth in every area this summer. Pray that Jesus would prepare their hearts for the time they’ll spend here, and open their eyes to Him most of all.
The more time you spend praying for the campers you’ll meet this summer, the softer your heart will be towards them when they arrive!
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
