Welcome to our first digital edition of the Greystone Sparks. Having a summer without camp requires us to “tighten our belt” in many areas, and one of those ways is going digital with our Alumnae Sparks this year. But, good news - we hope this new format will be easy to navigate, with more articles to peruse than every before. We hope you enjoy!
It has been an interesting year at camp, and I know many of you are feeling the weariness of this pandemic like we are. The summer was hard. What is camp without the campers? It was just depressing. I ate less healthy food, exercised less, and laughed less…it’s just not the same when camp isn’t open. Every day you could find me helping with the grounds work (which was actually one of the most fun things I did each week). Our family enjoyed going out on the lake almost every day (something we never get to do during the summer when camp is going on), and we spent some good time with our children who were “sheltering” at camp for much of the summer. We are blessed in many ways, but I am so ready to be past 2020!
When you run a summer camp that is unable to operate during the pandemic, you look around at the many people who love and support you no matter what, and there is no group who does that more than YOU, our alumnae. Thank you for supporting us throughout the 100th summer (we can’t believe a year has passed since our wonderful reunion). Thank you to the many of you who supported us (through calls, letters, emails, and financially) when we realized camp just couldn’t open in 2020. When I think about the many ways we are abundantly blessed during this time, I think of you. And, I am grateful.
We hope you’ll enjoy this 21st century way of reading our Sparks (let us know what you think of this new format; just click on the articles below to read the stories). And, as always, if you find yourself near Tuxedo, give us a call and stop by to say hello. Your camp home is always waiting. We appreciate you more than you could know.
With love,
Jimboy
