This summer, as we introduce the exciting and expansive new Farm Barn activity area, our Riding program will be transitioning as well. Riding Director, Lisa Ashmore Maybin, will retire after serving at the helm since 2015.
Lisa first joined the Barn and Riding program in the 1980s when her mother Jeanne Ashmore was Riding Director from 1980-1993. During those years, Lisa was involved in every aspect of running the program, from teaching classes to management of the barn. She also served as Assistant Riding Director from 1991-1993. Lisa’s father, Jerry Ashmore, built our beautiful barn in 1989. It was truly a family affair!
Lisa returned to the Greystone Barn as our Director in 2015. Through her love and dedication to our Riding program, she breathed life back into our English lessons, restarted our Thunderhead program, and revamped our Riding staff hiring process, making it better than ever. Lisa’s husband Danny, her sons Paul and Luke, and her daughter Elise have all been a part of the program, working tirelessly to care for more than 50 horses over the past 6 years. They are leaving behind a wonderful legacy, and we cannot thank them enough.
While we are sad to see Lisa retiring, we are so very grateful for her numerous years of dedication and the time and love she has poured into Greystone, the horses, the Barn, and most importantly, the campers. Thank you Lisa!
