Need-to-Know Information

Cell Phones & Other Electronics

We want to ensure that our staff are as involved in our community as possible during their short stay here. You may bring your cell phone to camp, but you will only be allowed to access it on your day off. Please do not bring other electronics that have cellular data capabilities.

Keep in mind that Greystone is not responsible for damage or lost items, so we ask that you not bring laptops, iPads, etc. either.

Spending Money

There are three ways for you to spend money at camp: During Evening Programs in town, online shopping, or The Greystone Store.

When we go into town at night, Greystone does pay for the base of the activity. If you want anything extra, you’ll need to cover that yourself. For example, if we go Putt Putting, Camp will pay for you to putt putt, but if you want a snack from the concession stand, you’ll have to buy that yourself. We only go into town about twice a week.

Kitchen Staff will have access to two computers to make any online purchases. If you need something from Walmart, Amazon, or anywhere else, make sure you have a credit card available for shopping online.

The Greystone Store is located on camp property has everything from stationery to sweatshirts to devotionals to jewelry–all custom-designed for Greystone! Kitchen Staff will NOT be allowed to buy anything from The Greystone Store by charging it to your camp credit account. You will either need to bring a debit/credit card with you or you can pre-fund an account prior to your arrival at camp. To pre-fund an account, reach out to at The Greystone Store. She will issue your staffer a gift card that, unlike other gift cards, is refundable for any money not spent at the end of the summer.

Communication Outside of the Bubble

Hand-written letters are the very best way to communicate with your staffer during the summer. When sending a letter, please address the letter in the following way:

Full Name - Kitchen Staff
Camp Greystone
21 Camp Greystone Lane
Zirconia, NC 28790

We also have two computers in the Kitchen available for the Kitchen Staff to use during their free time. If you need to send something more urgent, staff are able to check their email on a regular basis. If there ever is an emergency, you are welcome to call the Kitchen at 828-693-7771.

Music in the Kitchen

Pretty much the only time music is not playing in the kitchen is when we are all on our afternoon break. Our counselors pick the music every day, and they normally have their own playlist. However, we love a variety of music and want you to add some to our Spotify playlists!

We will not be playing playlists from staff’s personal accounts as we are not able to edit them if inappropriate music is played. You may make the playlist “collaborative” in order for us to edit it. Or feel free to create your own playlist on the Kitchen’s Spotify account–just make sure your name is on it!

Any songs added need to be clean! Unfortunately, even if a song in the radio-edited version, that does not mean it’s necessarily Greystone-appropriate. Please do not add songs that have cuss words, sexual meanings, or other inappropriate context in the lyrics.

The following pre-made playlists are for you to edit:

  • Greystone Kitchen 2025: If you are a returning staffer, add your favorites to this playlist!
  • Dish Room 2025: If you are a new staffer please add music to the Dish Room 2021 playlist. We let the new staff have their own playlist because there are a few times where it’s just y’all in the kitchen, so you get to pick the music!
  • Bust It Out 2025: Add some “pump it up” music for those slow days or super busy days when there is a lot of dancing and a lot of coworking!
  • Sundays in the Kitchen: We listen solely to Praise and Worship on Sunday, so this playlist is full of the best Christian music.

Visitor-Free

Greystone is Visitor-Free! Visitors are not allowed during any of our camp sessions, and we do not allow trips out of camp with parents/friends. You are welcome to show friends and family around camp on Closing Day after you have been checked out.
