Packing List & Housing

Packing List

Our Kitchen Packing List gives you the big overview of everything you need to bring.

General Packing Guidelines

Modesty

When packing, please keep in mind that we ask everyone in our community to wear modest and appropriate clothing while at camp. Girls’ swimsuits need to be one-piece and must fully cover the body (no cut-outs or skimpy bottoms). Girls’ shorts need to have a recognizable inseam and all low-cut tank tops need to be worn with a more modest tank top underneath. Apparel with beer logos or inappropriate slogans need to be left at home.

Labeling Possessions:

Return home with all your stuff by labeling ALL of your possessions! Please label everything you send to camp. Write your first initial and last name in everything, including all clothing, cameras, shoes, socks, underwear, sheets, etc.

Restricted Items

In order to focus on the relational aspect of camp and to provide a safe and wholesome camp environment, we do not allow electronic items (cell phones, iPods, DVD players, Wi-Fi Devices, iPads, smart watches, etc.) in the houses. We also ask that you not bring non-surge protected extension cords, plug-in or battery-operated string lights, slime, offensive or suggestive clothing with inappropriate graphics or themes, or valuables (including irreplaceable or expensive clothing or sports gear, and/or money). If brought to camp, these items will be kept in the Kitchen Office safely until Closing Day. Digital cameras without Internet capabilities are allowed.

Prohibited Items

Staff are not allowed to bring pets, alcohol, drugs, tobacco or nicotine products, lighters or matches, weapons, explosives, or fireworks. Bringing any of these items to camp may result in dismissal.

Packing for the Kitchen

Crocs

We highly recommend you purchase a pair of Crocs to wear in the Kitchen – they are slip-resistant and can be sent through the dish machine for cleaning! Chacos and Tennis Shoes are not preferred as they do not dry quickly (Chacos tend to really smell when wet!).

Daily “Uniform”

We will be providing a daily shirt for you to wear in the Kitchen every day as our uniform. You will have a specific shirt to wear each day which helps keep you on top of your laundry!

Housing

Your home away from home this summer will be either The Vic (if you’re a guy) or The Gate House (if you’re a girl.) Both houses are true houses with multiple bedrooms for spreading out and one gigantic shared bathroom. We have outfitted BOTH houses with a hangout space complete with a TV, microwave, refrigerator, and comfortable couches!

In order to make it easier to clean our houses this year, we are asking that everyone bring the bare minimum to camp.

Bedding

As we no longer provide Camp sheets or blankets, we ask that you bring 2 sets of sheets if you would like to change your sheets while you’re here. We recommend that you pack a comforter or warm blanket for cold nights, and all staff need to bring a pillow and pillowcases. Regular twin-sized sheets fit the beds best.

Egg Crates and Mattress Pads

Having extra padding for your camp mattress is the best! For easier packing, we recommend bringing a thick mattress pad instead of an egg crate. You can purchase these online. If you’d like to purchase these items from camp, The Greystone Store is providing sheet sets, mattress pads, pillowcases, and fans that can be pre-ordered and delivered to your house prior to our Arrival Day. If you bring an egg crate, we will send it home with you on Closing Day.

Where does my stuff go?

Both houses have plastic drawer sets and shelving located throughout the houses. There is also some space under the beds where you can store empty duffles or shallow tupperware bins.

Laundry

Both houses have their own sets of washers and dryers, and we will provide laundry detergent for all staff! If you don’t already help your parents with laundry at home, please practice before coming to camp so you know how to do it yourself.

We recommend bringing a plastic laundry hamper or mesh bag. It’s better for your laundry if it can breathe while waiting to be washed!
