Supporting the Next Generation of Leaders: Greystone’s Career Connections
As all of you alums know, Greystone community bonds run deep, forming connections that last well beyond the summer. Seeing how impactful these Greystone connections can be, we are thrilled to introduce a new initiative to extend that network even further: Career Connections, a program designed to support our counselors’ professional growth and help them transition from camp life to their chosen careers.
This initiative developed out of a need we’ve recognized over many summers. We knew that our counselors were among the most dedicated, compassionate, and hard-working young adults around. Each summer, they bring so much experience, enthusiasm, and leadership to camp, enhancing the Greystone experience for everyone.
However, as college students, many of these young people face a tough choice each summer: return to Greystone (which we all know is the best career-building experience you can find!), or give in to the pressure to secure an internship or job opportunity to help in their post-college careers. To support our counselors in their career development—and hopefully make it easier for them to return to camp—we are in the process of creating Career Connections… and we need your help!
What is Career Connections?
Career Connections is designed to connect Greystone counselors with parents and alumnae in our community who are willing to share industry expertise, offer career advice, or even discuss potential internship and job opportunities. Through this program, our counselors can reach out to participants in relevant fields to gain insight, mentorship, or assistance. By building this network, we aim to provide our counselors with the resources they need to advance their careers while also returning to camp in the summers.
How Will It Work?
Participation in Career Connections is entirely voluntary, and we’re incredibly grateful to any alumnae who would be willing to lend their time and guidance. When you join this network, you make yourself available as a resource to Greystone counselors who share an interest in your industry or field. These connections can involve anything from offering general career advice, sharing industry insights, or discussing internship or job opportunities.
Why Participate?
The counselors bring incredible dedication, positivity, and leadership to Greystone. You all know that counselors are mentors and friends to our campers, creating a joyful and safe environment that fosters growth and lifelong memories; many of you have been that older role model yourself. Their impact doesn’t end when camp finishes for the season, and with Career Connections, we now have the chance to give back to these young people in a lasting, impactful way.
By offering career guidance, mentorship, or industry insight, you’re not only helping shape the future of a young counselor’s career—you’re also giving back to the next generation of leaders. With their teamwork, positive attitudes, and commitment to personal growth, Greystone counselors are ideal employees and mentees who embody the values that make our community special.
