We all know that camp friendships are in a league of their own! In the Bubble, our relationships are based in the love of Christ, and campers are often surprised that you really can be friends with anyone here, including girls who are older or younger than you.
Watching friendships form across age groups is one of our favorite parts of the summer, and one way that those happen is through our Big and Little Sister program at Main Camp!
Each April, we connect our Senior-Seniors (the oldest Main Campers) with our youngest Main campers (3rd and 4th graders) through the Big and Little Sister program. This is a favorite Main Camp tradition that creates the sweetest friendships throughout the session and into the school year!
Before the session starts, Big and Little Sisters write back and forth to each other as they prepare for camp. Once we’re all here for Main Camp, we have a Big Sister Little Sister party to help everyone connect and encourage the Camp Sisters to get to know each other through Shoppe dates, free time activities, or even taking a class together!
Each Big and Little Sister relationship is unique to that pair, and we love seeing how our Seniors mentor and encourage the younger campers… and how much the Little Sisters teach their Big Sisters in return! We reached out to a couple of our 2023 Big Sisters to hear about their experience. 2024 Big and Little Sisters, look for your cards in the mail soon!
“I first got to know my little sister, Caroline through our penpal letters before camp. We wrote back and forth leading up to the session and when we got to camp, we became fast friends. We took Greystone groove together and had so much fun getting to know each other there and at EPs. Having a camp little sister is fun because I got to experience Main Camp for the first time again with her during my last summer as a camper.”
“I had a really fun experience with my little this summer, especially while she was working on the Junior Play. I ran lines with her on the party porch, helped with her costume, and cheered her on in the front row of the pit on play night.”
Did you have fun memories of having a Big or Little Sister at camp? Let us know! This is one of our favorite traditions, and we can’t wait to see the new friendships that form between our oldest and youngest campers this summer.
