It is with great sadness for us and excitement for her that we announce that Anne Hayden Wray is heading to snowier slopes as she leaves working with us at Greystone to return to her previous job as a ski instructor in Colorado. Anne Hayden will be missed by all of us at camp, especially by our Senior campers and staff group!

Anne Hayden has a long family history at camp as her parents both worked and met at Greystone. Her father Scott taught in our tennis program for many years while her mother Margaret was a Group Leader. Joined by her sisters MacKenzie and Molly, Anne Hayden enjoyed 10 years as a camper where she exceled in the tennis program and especially loved her Zumba and Metal Jewelry classes.

She seamlessly transitioned into a counselor role for 7 summers, enjoying time on the courts as a Tennis instructor. In more recent years, Anne Hayden has served tirelessly as a Group Leader. In this role, she led our Senior camper group, oversaw our camp traditional programs like Challenge Day and Senior Celebration, and most recently pulled off our magnificent Banquet extravaganza. It is not a stretch to say that Anne Hayden has had her hands in almost everything during the summer!

In 2022, we were lucky enough to have Anne Hayden join our year-round team as our Assistant Staff Director. In this role, she focused on staff recruiting as she traveled to many different cities and colleges to visit potential new staff and enjoy those special camp reunions with our former counselors. As she continued to work for camp during the year, she introduced many new campers to Greystone by giving such fun and informative tours, designed print pieces for camp, and helped prepare our staff for their arrival each year. She also founded the Tuxedo Social Club, a fun gathering of local Greystone friends to overcome the winter blues that so often occur when our campers aren’t at camp; Anne Hayden sure knows how to throw a party! With her impeccable style and sense of humor, she kept our office environment lively and fun year-round.

After her many years at camp, Anne Hayden is headed back to the Colorado Mountains to work as a ski instructor again. She previously worked for 2 years in Vail after college, and she is excited to get back out on the slopes for this ski season. If only we could turn Apple Hill into a ski slope, we may be able to keep her!

We cannot wait to cheer on Anne Hayden as she embarks on this new adventure, but we will miss her dearly here at Greystone. Anne Hayden, thank you for your many years of love and service to camp!
