Praying for Your Daughter's Camp Experience

We don’t have to tell you that we are entering a busy time of year! Your days are likely already filled to the brim with school deadlines, holiday plans, and all the anticipation and excitement that comes with the season ahead.

Here at camp, we are already full-speed ahead in planning for summer 2025. We’re hiring staff, planning Evening Programs, and diving into all the tweaks and improvements we want to make to ensure next year is our best yet.

Hear us clearly: planning for camp should not be a burden for you this time of year! You can have full confidence that we will be in touch regularly throughout the spring to make sure you are prepared and that getting your daughter ready for the summer is as smooth as possible.

In the meantime, we’d love to invite you to start praying for your daughter’s experience at Greystone in 2025! There are so many ways to pray once the summer has arrived, but we know the Lord is already at work, and we can join Him in that conversation even before the New Year. We know your to-do list is bursting at the seams already, and this shouldn’t be an added task! But when you think of it, know that your prayers are joining with ours and so many camp families who are also anticipating the summer ahead.

Pray month by month:

If you like to have a plan, you can go ahead and decide how you will pray for your daughter’s time at camp, starting now and continuing until Opening Day. Here are some suggestions to get you started:

  • November - spiritual growth: Pray that God would prepare your daughter’s heart for her camp experience and that He would meet her while she’s at Greystone. For the counselors and ministers who will be giving devotions and leading worship. For her to know Him and love Him more because of her time at Greystone and that He would work in this place this summer.
  • December - social growth: Pray for the friends your daughter will make at camp! For her to be brave in introducing herself and reaching out to others. For her cabin to be a warm and welcoming place. For growth in current friendships and that new ones would be rooted in Christ and become life-long connections.
  • January - mental growth: Pray for courage for your daughter as she tries new things and for resilience in the growth process of adjusting to a new summer at camp. Pray that she would be challenged in a supportive way through her activities and that camp would introduce her to new passions. Pray that camp would be a place where she can see the good that God is working in every day!
  • February - physical growth: Pray that she would learn new skills and that camp can be a place where she sees how capable she is as she gains confidence in her own abilities. Pray that her camp days will be filled with playing hard and resting well! Pray for great weather this summer that will set the tone for days outside and for our Kitchen team as they plan delicious, nourishing meals.
  • March - delight: Pray that this would be a summer filled with fun for your daughter! That she would find delight and joy in every corner of camp, from her activities to the meals to her cabinmates. Pray that she can let go of anything that may be going on outside of camp and just be free to be silly and young here. Pray for lots of laughter and good conversations!
  • April - camp preparations: Pray for all the details that are now coming together to set your daughter and all of camp up for a great summer. Pray for cabin placement as it’s happening, Penpal connections, staff who are packing, and the right questions to come to mind before she arrives. Pray for wisdom in the conversations you’re having with her about her time at camp and that she would feel excited and confident as she anticipates her session.
  • May (and throughout the summer!) - details and God’s glory: Camp is just around the corner, and we know God cares about the details just as much as we all do! Pray that every little thing that happens at camp this year would glorify God and point to Him.

Pray when you’re reminded of camp:

Sometimes the most specific prayers come to us in the moment, so keep your eyes and ears out for chances to pray for your daughter’s camp experience throughout the year! Say a quick prayer before dinner when a camp memory or question comes up on the car ride home from school. Pray when you get a camp mailing or when your daughter wears her Carnival shirt. Pray while you’re filling out your spring forms or putting that first Penpal letter in the mail. We always love keeping a note of specific prayer requests to look back on later to see the way they were answered!

Pray alongside other parents:

Greystone has a huge community of parents who will be praying for summer 2025 right alongside you! Reach out to a fellow camp parent in your town to see how you can be praying for her daughter or email a mom from your daughter’s cabin last year. The Parent Facebook page can be a great place to connect with other parents as the summer gets closer! New parents, look for more chances coming in the spring to connect with returning camp families.

No matter how and when you pray, we know that the Lord is listening and delights in answering our requests. We know He cares about each girl’s camp experience next summer, and we do too! Our year-round team is already praying for your daughters. If you have specific requests or ways we can pray for your family here in Tuxedo, please let us know - it would be a privilege to pray for you!
