Good Times
Spirits are high as we enter another GREAT DAY at Greystone. The girls are celebrating the Great Day way of living as we enter the final stretch of camp.

We are enjoying almost perfect weather… Campers know that good weather is a thing to celebrate when it is like this. Cool nights, warm days, and low humidity are accentuating every detail of camp. Some years we have found it to be rainier, some years hotter, some years muggier… this summer has been just right. North Carolina is a great place to go to camp!
The EP last night was tons of fun… camp was filled with squeals of delight from every corner as the girls did their different activities. The beautiful sunset was particularly memorable for those girls who were enjoying the pool or waterpark. There is something special about swimming in such a setting. That glorious cool, slightly fishy water is a delight. Swimming at dusk is especially memorable… the fireflies rising into the trees accompanied by the sounds of frogs and crickets. Wonderful.
My walk around the “Apple Hill” side of camp yesterday allowed me an up-close look at the adventure program, swimming, diving, glass beads, fusion, sailing, kayaking, and paddleboarding programs. All were in full swing, with campers and counselors really engaged with the program and the conversations that arise from the different activities. Today I hope to visit the Western side of camp and look in on mountain biking, farm and garden, basketball, dog camp, and archery. I bet that they are just as great as the Eastern side of camp… everything appears to be clicking along exactly as we want during this important middle part of camp. Thanks go to God!
Tonight is Carnival, and the girls could not be more excited. We eat carnival food, play on inflatable rides, and dance like banshees. Carnival is one of our favorite EPs and has been for years. “Carnival Al” sees us as his most important client, always adding new elements that will amp things up to a higher level. Gervais and Alli research new carnival food items to entice the girls in new ways. It is a blowout night, and the excitement throughout the camp is palpable. I will be doing Funnel Cakes with Gervais, a decades-long tradition that we both enjoy.
