Every day at Greystone is great, but the rare days we get to introduce you to a new team member might be the best of all! We are thrilled to welcome Anne Hayden Wray to our year-round crew as our Assistant Staff Director.
If you’ve been around Greystone over the past 15 years, we bet you recognize her megawatt smile, and we know you love her as much as we do! Anne Hayden was a camper for 10 years before returning to serve on staff as a cabin counselor and then a Group Leader, gaining experience in so many different aspects of camp.
In her words, “Growing up at camp was so important in teaching me independence, how to love and work with others, and how to grow in my faith. Being a camper was SO much fun, but working as a counselor was even better because I got to help campers grow and enjoy the place that I love so much!”
As our new Assistant Staff Director, one of her biggest focuses will be staff recruiting, which means she’ll be on the road a lot this year and might be coming to a college near you! She can’t wait to hang out with our returning staff and meet new friends as well. Want Anne Hayden to make a stop at your school this year? Or do you have a friend she needs to connect with?
Don’t worry campers, she’d never forget you! Anne Hayden will be working on all kinds of projects to help you connect with each other and with Greystone all year long. You might find her responding to your Instagram DMs, giving off-season camp tours, or brainstorming new and fresh ideas to make our camper and staff experience even better for next summer.
She’s not living far from camp and is excited to jump into year-round camp life! Anne Hayden said she “loves the tight-knit community of the off-season and slower pace. The year-round job is exciting because we get to plan for the upcoming summer - I have already loved finding creative ways to appreciate our staff and start to make plans for an incredible 104th summer!”
We couldn’t have said it better than she did: “Coming back and working full time for camp has me so excited - it’s my favorite place in the world, and I truly believe that camp has such an important impact on every person that spends the summer here, campers and counselors alike. So having the opportunity to work for such an incredible place that has blessed myself and so many others for 103+ years is a dream!”
You’ll be hearing from and seeing Anne Hayden lots more this year, but in the meantime, go ahead and give her a big old Greystone “hi there” in the comments!
