I want to start with thanking you all for being such great camp parents. We always have mostly new camp families at Junior Camp, and this year we have had more than ever. New camp families often do not “get” camp (which we admit is a very strange place out of context), and sometimes it’s hard to just relax into the comfortable assumption that your girls are having a great time. But you have not had this problem! On the contrary, you are SUPER encouraging to both your camper and to the staff. We have never gotten so many thank you emails from so many new families. You are wonderful and we are grateful.
I want to touch on this year’s theme verse. Isaiah 40:31 says, “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Our theme for this summer is Hope, and we are focusing on this theme in our Morning Assembly and Evening Devotion time with the girls. What a comfort it is to know where our hope lies and who we can hope in as we read stories in the Bible. On the first night of camp, the counselors read to the girls about eagles and baby eagles learning how to fly. They start off weak but grow strong to soar in the sky. Imagine our joy and surprise when yesterday many of the campers and staff noticed our local eagle fly by the flagpole during the day!

Jimboy’s Breakfast Club: Did you know campers walk between 3 and 5 miles daily at camp?! He encouraged the girls to eat good food, exercise often, and sleep well in order to take care of their bodies as part of the Great Day attitude.
Thanks again for reading.
