Good Morning Greystone Parents! I have a lot to write about today as yesterday I somehow deleted my full blog before it got published. We got some great pictures up featuring our activities, but all of my news about our wonderful Birthday Ball and the upcoming Carnival missed the post.
To re-cap Tuesday and Wednesday…we had a Birthday Ball on Tuesday night. The Birthday Ball celebrates all of the girls in camp who have birthdays during the session. We had balloons at each chair of our birthday girls and they got to wear birthday tiara’s for the night! For dessert that night, each table got to decorate their own birthday cake!
The campers wore their PJ’s to dinner as the evening program was Neighborhood night. We slowed the campers down a little so that they could enjoy time around a campfire, play games, tell stories, make S’mores and have a quiet devotion. It was a wonderful night together!
On Wednesday, the focus was all about activities and CARNIVAL! We love Carnival at camp…we do it every session and this year we had lots of rides and yummy food!! BBQ, Cornbread, Grilled Cheese, Watermelon, French Fries, Funnel Cake, Ice Cream Sandwiches, and the favorite….Cotton Candy!! It was such a HAPPY night! Lots of giggles were to be heard for two hours of FUN!
It is so hard to believe that this is the last full day of camp! Junior Camp just flies by, and just as we are getting settled, it is time to go.
Today the girls are enjoying classes this morning. At 12:45 they will have a picnic lunch and then head to their cabins for a long rest hour. During this time they will do most of their packing for departure tomorrow with lots of help from their counselors and our wonderful Program Staff who are such a great support throughout the session.
Tonight will be our Closing Banquet in the Fort. It will be a little different than normal as we can’t close off the Fort to decorate in the usual fashion, but when the campers come for dinner their tables will be decorated as we celebrate our last dinner together.
When we wake up tomorrow morning, the girls will be filled with excitedment as they anticipate seeing you again! They will have stories to tell, songs to sing and adventures to talk about on your car ride home! You will be amazed at how much they have grown in just one week. I often hear how mannerly they are when they get home…we work a lot on manners, being thankful, and kind to each other while they are here with us!
Thank you for sharing your precious girls with us this summer. It has been a JOYOUS session….your girls have been a blessing to us and we hope to see each one of them back at Greystone next summer! You will be hearing from us about Early Bird Registration for next summer. You don’t need to do anything right now, and we will give you clear instructions about when and how to do that at a later date.
Hope you all are having a GREAT day! Katie
