While this holiday season is surely going to look different, I bet many of you will be hitting the road at some point to do a little traveling. And what’s better than a great listen when you’re stuck in the car for hours? We’re here to help you find the BEST podcasts and audiobooks for your upcoming holidays!
Even if you are staying home this year, this list is still a great resource for those colder days when you just need to curl up with a cozy blanket and listen to something good. Maybe pull out a knitting project (like you’d do at camp) or write some camp friends while you listen.
Without further ado, here are some great listens to add to your holiday road trips:
Note: We can’t guarantee that everything in each of these podcasts and audiobooks is appropirate for you or your daughter’s age. Please make sure to review them first before listening!
My favorite podcast service for younger campers is Pinna. Pinna is an ad-free audio-streaming service for children (geared for 3-12 years old). While they have some great audibooks, their podcasts are really good. We’ve really enjoyed so many, but highly recommend Sugar Monster (5+) and Grim, Gimmer, Grimmest (8+). You pay a monthly fee, but if you’re just using it for the 2 months over the holidays, it is a great deal that I’d recommend! And, you can receive $5 off your first month by using our link. Cancel anytime!
For our younger campers, check out these great podcasts. They are engaging and most have episodes on the shorter side:
I crowd-sourced our Head Staff team for their favorite podcasts right now; here are some of the favorites from our Greystone crew for you to check out over the holidays:
Our family’s favorite audiobook service is Scribd. It is great for campers and adults! Unlike other services where you need to pay per book, Scribd gives you access to so many audiobooks…and the selection is really good! We’ve listened to everything from the Boxcar Children to Stick Dog books to Wonder to Little House on the Prarie…I could keep going! I guess the point is that you really do have an endless supply of books to listen to. If you have some long road trips, sign up for a month to cover that car trip, and then you can cancel anytime.
Here are some favorites that are also series, making them fun to listen to if you have hours in the car:
Here are some great books that are also series, or the authors have multiple books, so you can get lost in their stories while traveling:
