The last bugle has blown, the cabins are dark, and our staff have pulled out of the gates - camp is quiet these days! But what actually happens to the bubble once it’s popped?
- We clean up from the summer. Think about all the buildings and program areas and little details that go into making camp so magical - every square inch has to be cleaned and put away so that it’s ready for next year. All the cabins get a deep clean, the ENOs are put back in their bags, and eventually the Blob will be deflated (yes, really!).
- We get ready for the off season! One of the most fun things about the fall is that we get to play camp every weekend for about a month! Starting on Labor Day, we have groups come in to use camp, beginning with Family Camp, and continuing with RUF Fall Conferences. Sometimes we even get to hug some past counselors when they come with their schools!
- We prepare for the BIG reunion! You may have heard that this is our 100th year… well that means this fall we get to host hundreds of alumnae back at camp for our 100th Anniversary Reunion! We have been counting down to this weekend for years, and it’s finally almost here, but that means there’s lots of prep to do in the weeks leading up. It’s going to be a weekend to remember!
- We start working on next year! I know right, we just finished camp! But there’s no time to waste in making sure 2020 is another best summer ever. To start with, we go through surveys with a fine tooth comb and talk through the calendars, making notes on what worked and what didn’t so that we can always be improving. This is the exciting part, where we get to brainstorm and dream about camp next year - we already can’t wait!
