Oh, 2018 staff - where do we begin? I speak for the entire Head Staff when I say that this summer’s crew was a truly exceptional bunch. From beginning Orientation in a multi-day monsoon to an August camp full of dance parties, summer 2018 had a feel that was totally its own. As I sit in a quiet office, thinking through some of my favorite memories of our time together, I’d like to raise a toast to the exceptional men and women who worked so hard to make the 99th summer an outstanding one.
From the moment you counselors arrived at camp, we were off to a memorable start!
You didn’t let that rain stop y’all from playing games and making nametags into works of art.
With you all around, it was pretty much impossible to be bored.
From the Men Staff YMCA, to doing the floss and the shoot, to preparing ye the way of the Lord.
Riding staff, program staff, cabin staff, men staff, head staff - by the end of the summer, what hadn’t y’all done?
You served plates, taught campers skills, put on some hilarious banquets - pretty much everything under the sun!
From May 29th (or earlier) up until August 10, you gave this place your all every single day.
And even when it felt hard and discouraging, you were growing in the 4-fold way.
You made each new day at Greystone a chance to serve and love our campers well,
The impact you’ve made on so many girls would take years - if not decades - to tell.
And that, my friends, is what makes camp great - wonderful, Godly people living together,
Because of what the Lord does in this place, we all leave and are better.
Remember through those post-camp blues, when life on your college campus is just a different deal -
We still do love you awfully much, and even though you’re outside the bubble, the Lord is at work in you still.
