The sun rose at 6:23 this morning, temperature was a perfect 60 degrees, humidity a low 50%… time to run!
I hit the track before the campers so that I could be all finished with my run before everyone else arrived at 8:00. The peacefulness of camp in the early morning is sublime: sounds of geese and ducks are joined by the songbirds and nothing else. It is the perfect time to just enjoy God’s creation and think about the blessings of life.
Margaret and I absolutely loved the Five Year speeches last night. It was a significant moment for many of the girls and a wonderful celebration for the camp. We started around 7:45, 15 minutes later than expected (organizing so many participants is time consuming) and we dismissed around 9:00. Around 250 girls were presented as 5-year campers and thirty seniors presented their memories. The pavilion was the location chosen for the program due to the lingering showers and cool temperatures of the day. The weather didn’t impact the moment in the least as we basked in the warmth of golden memories made in a childhood home. Camp is all about the campers… this is their place and the speeches reflected an intense love developed over the years.
Our second Sunday will be a lot like our first, a great day of rest with a great lakeside concert to finish things off. We are look forward to a slower paced day to prepare us for a big week to come.
Thank you for checking in, hope your Sunday is as great as ours will be!
