Countdown: "Three"

For me, vacations include two countdowns. The first coming during the week before a vacation begins. This is when I get serious about packing. The second comes as the vacation nears it’s ending point. This is when I make sure that I make time to do the things I wanted while away. This countdown is usually about 3 days. This gives enough time to do what is needed to make the vacation good. It is usually just barely enough.

Three days is a lot of time and a little time at the same time.

The girls definitely feel that the three days left in camp are just “a little time” and are embracing camp with that attitude. They are enthusiastic in every setting: cabins, classes, and activities are all WIRED. Their enthusiasm is adorable and infectious… we are all riding that wave of excitement and it is a lot of fun. There is just a little time left to accomplish goals set weeks ago so we are making every minute count.

The Production EP was delightful. Such great dancing, singing, cheering, and guitar. You would have been proud of your girls, they have learned so much! We know that you enjoy seeing such events and tonight we will give you the option of “attending” the June Camp Play (Annie) by livestreaming the event. We will turn on the camera at 7:15 PM anticipating a 7:30 PM start time. This is a live performance only… we are not allowed to record the show (don’t think you can watch it later). We love plays at camp, this one is sure to be fun!

If you do watch the play, we think you will be impressed. The girls work very hard and all that hard work really pays off on the big night. They will know their lines, their singing and dancing will be confident, the costumes and props will be surprisingly good… the play is our best EP in many ways, we hope you like the show!

Frankly, hearing the actors has always been our biggest challenge. The pavilion is a pretty big venue if measured by audience size (we have about 700 people watching the show). It is a big room with a lot of people so microphones are a must. There is no solution but to go with “real” wireless microphones (kind of expensive). We now have fifteen of these nice microphones and they assure a much better show.

There are a lot of “memorable moments” at camp and many of them will occur this week. We are sure that many girls will remember a moment from this week for the rest of their lives. How awesome is that? We love camp for both mundaine and mountaintop moments… they are all good.

The Big Horse Show will also be a major focus of the day (girls have done “in class” shows already… this is the show in which the top 50 girls were invited to compete). The horses are beautifully turned out and some girls are wearing fancy riding attire. We have a visiting judge from Tryon and have set up a sound system to announce the classes. It will be a lot of fun!

Food today:

  • Breakfast: Eggs Benedict (yes, we serve Bennies… yum!)
  • Lunch: Mac and Cheese with sausage
  • Dinner: BBQ Ribs picnic
  • Weather is hot and sunny
  • Crescent Moon is absolutely stunning!

We are loving camp and grateful for the days that are left.
