Your Camp Support Team - New Camper Blog Series

We have a very large community at camp, with many people who work year-round to make Greystone the very best it can be! We’ve introduced our Head Staff in both of our Sparks magazines this year, but what about all of the other people who will take care of you at camp this summer? This week, as part of our New Camper Blog Series, we are going to be looking at all of the great people who make up your Greystone Support Team. Here we go…

Your Cabin Counselor: Every cabin will have one or two counselors, usually college-aged girls who are SO EXCITED to be your personal cabin counselor throughout the session. Your counselor is the person you’ll spend the most time with, as she’ll be living right with you in your cabin. Not only will she help you with any questions you may have, she’ll also be so much fun! Helping to start a great dance party or freeze dance competition, or even just talking at the end of the day, you are going to LOVE your cabin counselor. She has been praying for you and will continue to pray for you (and with you!) throughout the session. Get excited to meet your Cabin Counselor!

Our Program Staff: We have quite a few of our counselors that are part of our Program Staff counselor group (including our wonderful Riding Staff!). These counselors live with other staff and help make camp run smoothly, especially making our Evening Programs so much fun! Just like our cabin counselors, the Program Staff counselors will teach classes and sit at tables with you in the Dining Hall – you’ll LOVE these counselors at camp!

Your Group Leader: Each age group has a Group Leader who is in charge of all of the cabins in a specific age group. These Group Leaders are seasoned camp veterans who will be in your cabin all the time. They will plan fun Evening Programs for your Group, hang out with you at nights, and be available if you ever need anything. Meeting your Group Leader on the first day of the session will be a highlight!

Our Head Staff: Our Director crew works year-round to make camp the very best. You’ll see the our Directors around camp all of the time, and if you ever need anything, you can just walk up to one of them and ask. You’ll be on a first-name basis with many of them before your session is over. Our Head Staff group is a big part of your Camp Support Team – you’ll love it!

Our Health Hut Staff: We hope you never get sick at camp, but if you do, let me tell you – our Health Hut staff is the BEST! Every year, we have campers who LOVE going to the Health Hut because they just want to hang out with our nurses (and it may be because of the icee pops and Gatorade too). If you take medicine or need medicine while you’re at camp, you will meet our friendly nurses in no time. We also have a resident doctor each week; once again, we hope you never need to see him/her, but if you do, you’re actually in for a real treat – these doctors are very friendly and just seem to know the answer to everything. You’ll love our Health Hut Staff!

Our Kitchen Head Staff: We rave about our food all the time…as you’ll soon be doing after you try the food at your session. Our food is great!! Many of you will never even meet our Kitchen Staff, as they work tirelessly behind the scenes to feed our large community every day. However, if you have any food allergies, you’ll meet our Kitchen Staff quickly and soon become comfortable with them. They will take GREAT care of you, helping to make sure you can find the right food to meet your food needs.

We have quite a few other groups at camp that take GREAT care of us, working behind the scenes day in and day out; because of this, you may not even meet these people…our maintenance crew, housekeeping ladies, laundry dream team, our mail team (go Nancy!), and our office staff. But without them, camp wouldn’t be what it is - we are so very grateful!

If you can’t tell already, you have HUNDREDS of people on your Camp Support Team this summer – so many people who are ready to help with anything you need. Your counselor will be your first and main helper, but if you can’t find her, you’ve got a HUGE list of other people to choose from…we are ready to take great care of you!!
