There are a million reasons why the Head Staff loves camp. Every year here gives us more favorites and more things to love about this place - it’s why we’ve devoted our whole lives to it!
Even so, there’s always that ONE thing that gets our hearts racing, that makes us feel like the summer has officially started. We asked each of our year-round Head Staff their favorite part of the summer. What is yours?
Jimboy: The golden hour of campers catching fireflies and playing tetherball, the opening notes of cabin lipsyncs, and hearing Taps play as camp goes to sleep after a big day.
Dr. Margaret: The first Sunday church service, when Holy Holy Holy starts to play as we gather in the Pavilion together after a great week of camp. This hymn always makes me cry, thinking about the many generations of Greystone girls that have worshipped God right here with this very song. I love it!
Sarah: When all the staff are lined up, cheering for the campers as they run through on their way to the first assembly. It’s our “Royal Reception” and it’s the BEST. Also pumped for our new Corn Roast band and lots of BLTs for lunch.
Laura: That moment when all of our campers are packed into the Pavilion for our Opening Assembly, and we get to say a big, “Welcome Home!” It’s magic. Apple Cart, the salad bar, and lip-syncs - this summer’s going to be great!
Ellen-Anne: That afternoon glow on the Pageant Court when classes are over, DMC’s are starting, and everywhere you look there’s pure joy!
Caroline: The first notes of Taps on Opening Day. Everyone is settled and camp has gotten quiet after the best day. I love that moment! I’m also getting pumped for all the awesome surprises we’ve got planned for this summer… get ready guys!
Cat: Every day after dinner, during Candy Shoppe, when the sun is going down and everywhere you look girls are scattered around in groups, chatting and laughing and rolling down the hill. It’s such a precious glimpse of Glory!
Katie: The first time we hear all the campers singing Happy Am I. I love it!
Kelly: That moment when the Banquet theme is finally revealed to the campers after a session of anticipation. Their faces make all the hard work so worthwhile - it’s one of my favorite parts of every summer!
Alli: I love Reveille on Opening Day - with that moment, camp has begun and you can feel the excitement in the air!
Smith: The excitement of campers arriving on Opening Day, Funnel Cakes at Carnival - everything! I can’t wait for warm chocolate chip scones and year 10 of no trash at Junior!
