Dr. Margaret's Fall Faves

She’s Jimboy’s sidekick, our incredible Heath Director, and the most stylish lady at camp, and today she’s sharing the small things that are making her fall wonderful. Take it away Dr. M!

  • Morning coffee and quiet time at my desk in our library. The view out of the bay window is stunning in the morning. Sometimes there’s mist rising over the lake and sometimes blue birds flying by. The dogs often join me until Jimboy leaves for the day!
  • For better or for worse, with all the children gone, we never think about dinner any more! Family dinners around the table each night have always been a priority, even as the number at the table dwindled from 7 (or often more with visiting cousins!) down to just 3 this past year. But all of a sudden this fall, we don’t even think about dinner! Which at first was kind of fun (and a bit “freeing!”) But last night I realized that we had gone 5 nights without a real dinner. Just snacking on cheese, crackers, fruit, hummus, etc…. and tonight, I want a REAL dinner!

  • I do love listening to Ellie Holcomb albums and anyone on her Pandora station. Other favorites are Andrew Peterson, Bebo Norman, and Fernando Ortega. Good music with wonderful lyrics makes a huge difference in how I am feeling on any given day.
  • Watching the leaves change is one of my favorite things in the world. Camp has so many beautiful trees that change into so many beautiful colors. I love the crisp mornings, changing leaves, and cool nights with bright stars in the sky. I love almost everything about the fall! I really do!

  • I’m devoted to my coffee in the morning. Fresca or Diet Coke in the afternoon. Hot tea right before bed. And water in between them all. As far as snacks, believe it or not, I eat the string cheese sticks like we have at camp all year long!
  • Overall this fall has been full of dogs, walking around camp and making plans for the next summer and even the 100th! We are really looking forward to being able to visit the children and extended family. But I also plan to go through a lot of pictures, clean out some closets (exciting, huh!). And FINALLY look at Catherine and Peter’s wedding pictures!!
