The afterglow of a great day is one of those wonderful feelings that camp provides on a routine basis. There are a couple phases in this great afterglow feeling: immediately afterwards (as we look around in amazement) and the day after (as we compare our opinions with those around us). Based on the chatter going on at camp this morning, yesterday’s Fourth of July extravaganza was a holiday to remember!
As we shot the last firework in the massive display, many campers erupted in a huge cheer of delight. Literally dozens of campers and counselors sought me out to say that the show was the best they have ever seen. It is, no doubt, a side effect of “the bubble” at camp where life is good ALL THE TIME. We hear this kind of exhuberant talk all the time about many Greystone, it makes camp feel like the most magical place on the planet!
Gervais’ Famous Pizza is one of those over the top experiences that everyone will be talking about tomorrow. Our kitchen staff will make about 380 pizza’s from scratch this evening, a monumental task that you have to see to believe. Check out the video if you want to be amazed… pizza night is a right of passage for these young people and they will celebrate the maddness of the moment with delight! This great meal will kick off our final preparations for Challenge Day tomorrow.
The feeling in camp is great. We are settled in and happy in our little slice of heaven. The weather is warm (actually hot, highs in the 80’s) and will remain so for the rest of the week. It is a routine that reminds us that we have just started our summer and have a long line of Big Events to anticipate. Everything to look forward to and nothing to dread!
Thank you for making it possible. We are grateful.
