Well, it is almost here… camp opens tomorrow!
August campers have it tough. They have to wait all summer for their chance to attend camp and that must be hard to do. Having spent all summer at Greystone, I can’t even imagine it! The pressure is on us to deliver the perfect camp experience, and we are ready to deliver just that.
This has been an amazing summer so far: the best ever! I say this with confidence, for every measurement proves that it has been: an exceptionally safe summer (only minor things), an exceptionally healthy summer (health hut was busy but very few ever admitted to spend the night), an exceptionally good program (no “dud” classes according to camper surveys, LOTS of “Best Ever” classes spread around camp), an exceptional staff (shockingly good all the way around), and we have enjoyed some amazing food. Everything is AWESOME!
So this is how tomorrow works:
- Arrive Early We suggest you arrive between 7:00 and 8:30. The bunk run will happen at 7:30, it takes a few minutes to check in… and there are a lot of cars that arrive all at once! It is an exciting morning, go to bed early.
- Arrive with a Great Day Attitude We wake up every day and say “It’s going to be a Great Day”, you should start that routine tomorrow! Smile a lot… there is a lot to be happy about!
- Wet Grass Our lawn is always wet with dew at 7:30, so expect your feet to get wet on the walk up the hill.
- Coffee and Scones We serve great coffee and scones on the dining hall porch during the reception from 8:00 till 9:30. See you there!
- How to say good bye This can be a question for nervous parents, but don’t worry about it. By the time you have gotten your camper unpacked, she will already be adjusting to camp. Our counselors are great at gathering everyone together and helping the group gel. Simply give a big hug and say good bye. Easy!
- Write a few post cards or letters and leave them for us to deliver on a specific day. We have some mail bins at the Hostess Cabin labled by the day. Write some letters today (or use some of our free post cards at the Hostess Cabin) and drop them in the mail box. Having hand written mail from you is WONDERFUL and will make your camper’s first days better!
Thank you for choosing Greystone. Safe Travels!
