Where to begin…

We awoke to a world with no internet. In the old days, this was not an unusual thing to deal with but ever since we ponied up for a fiber optic trunk line that is plugged directly into the ATT network hub in Hendersonville it has not happened. We submitted a ticket… and waited till 1:00 for it to be resolved. No word what the problem was, but I do know that even the Henderson County Health Department did not have service. We are back online, but if you are one of those glued to the photo updates I know it was a frustration.

The weather is GLORIOUS!!!! Warm (high of 85), slight cloud cover, slight breeze, low humidity… perfect. I am thrilled that the campers have had such good weather this session. It has been a blessing.

Classes are going full tilt, but there is a slight let up on the intensity today. As the girls pass levels, they relax a little and just have fun in the class (never a bad plan at camp). They are very connected with their friends and often are talking while hitting the tennis ball or dribbling the basketball, there is lots of hand holding as they walk from class to class. It is precious!

Tonight will be our Council Fire/Closing Vespers program… the girls will be recognized for passing levels in their classes and we will gather around the flag pole and light our candles one last time. Our 95th summer will transition from a vibrant place of ceaseless activity, happiness, and joy to a quiet ghost town that is kind of sad.

Camp is HEAVEN when the campers are here, it is something else when they are gone. Don’t get me wrong… I am THRILLED to have my life back (the counselors feel more passionately about that gift than I!), but we are also keenly aware of the loss. Your girls are amazing. They are a joy to live with and it has been a privlege to be a part of their lives.

Thank you.
