Monday

We are now “locked and loaded” for a big finish… our last week of camp is a well oiled, sure fire, guaranteed home run sequence of events: adding Carnival to an already packed week (we delayed Carnival from Friday due to weather) intensifies everything! The energy in camp is very high (the girls are very loud in the dining hall and very excited in their cabins) and that energy is now focused like a laser on the big carnival this evening.

We will bring in a bunch of inflatable slides and rides, set up a bunch of game stations, and have a bunch of authentic carnival food (funnel cakes, cotton candy, hawaii shave ice, pop corn, grilled cheese, and cookie decorating). The big night starts after flag with a BBQ picnic (NC BBQ is the best anywhere… we have a huge smoker behind the kitchen so we can correctly introduce the girls to this delicacy) then open the rides. The girls run from thing to thing and just as they start to feel like they have done it all: we have a camp wide dance contest! Carnival is a favorite event in every session, the girls LOVE it.

The weather is about perfect (sunny, warm, chance of afternoon showers). The girls are working very hard to pass levels in their classes (with only 3 days of classes after today, every day counts!). They are also feeling very confident. It is so fun to see them intensely talking as they walk to classes… the girls are comfortable with camp and want to make the most of each day they have left. They laugh at the jokes, cheer for their team, dance to the pop songs, and sing the old camp songs at top volume. Good times!

Thank you for checking in.. all is well!
