Almost Ready

The sun is out, the grass is growing, and we are working!

The temperatures this week are lower than last week (only 70 degrees today, last week it was 85!). The cooler temperatures made me want to tell you about the solar heater for the pool… it has just been repaired and you will be glad it is up and running. The water is heated by the huge solar panels behind the pool (look at them when you go to the climbing wall or to glass beads). This system heats the water in both pools, but we can only heat one pool at a time… thus we start with the smaller pool (the one used by Junior Camp the most) then heat the big diving pool. When we started this process (yesterday) the pool temperature was 68 degrees (VERY cold). By next Monday, it should be almost 80 degrees! This makes swimming so much more fun… glad to do it for you!

The grass looks amazing. Very thick, green, and not a weed to be seen. The edges of the grand lawn need to be wacked down by weedeaters… we will take care of that later this week so everything is perfect for Opening Day on Monday.

We set up the softball field today. The lines were painted by the crew, always a big moment. There is something special about putting lines down (on fields, roads, courts)… it feels like the game is about to begin.

Speaking of courts, the new Basketball Court is amazing! A new color scheme for camp (blue on green) that we are testing as we prepare to re paint the tennis courts next year. The blue looks really good (a surprise to me… I only tried this new scheme because of David Vining and Laura Hollowell who said it is a much better color for tennis playing). We put new goals in (adjustable glass goals) and did some repairs to the fencing. It looks great!

I will check in tomorrow.
