We got back from the beach (a lovely vacation with the extended family at Hilton Head) to a grey and rainy camp.
The feeling of returning home is profound in the Miller family. We have lived in this place for generations and our hearts and souls are poured into it’s soil with love. But as wonderful as this home is, it is not the same when you are not here.
When one lives at camp, the definition of home is a little hard to grasp. On the one hand… for most of the year we have this place to ourselves. This is where we celebrate life (birthdays, graduations, holidays, etc.) but it is most emotionally poignant when you are here. In the summer we experience a depth of community that is not realized apart from those wonderful weeks. We miss you.
Thus our return brought us “almost home”… if that makes sense.
It has been a rainy week, which has complicated our preparations for this weekend’s wedding (Kaitlyn Nagle is getting married at camp on Saturday). The maintenance crew is very busy mowing, spraying, and preparing the ground for new seed that will be planted in the next couple of weeks. A big project that will take a lot of time is the repair of the Softball field (which was destroyed by all the rain this summer). We will take the opportunity to fix this whole area up with better drainage and new landscaping… it will be nice. I will keep you posted on this and other projects that we will announce as time goes by.
Thank you for checking in… I will be writing routinely from now on!

PS THE JOKE: My math book is sad…maybe because it has problems!
