Hot and Dry

Hot and Dry: Two words not spoken in reference to the weather around here for quite some time! That is the forecast today! Praise The Lord!

The break in rain gives us a chance to clean up the mulch pits around camp. Sam is not optimistic about our chances of “fixing it right” but we are going to give it a try. First we remove the wet mulch (by hand, a back breaking job). Then we add gravel, enough to give a solid footing. Finally cover with a layer of fresh pine mulch. No matter what the result of this work, the girls will appreciate the effort!

Today we will play hard in the sunshine all the way into the evening. Our EP tonight is a new one: The Hillbilly Hoopla! The girls have been divided into 4 teams that will compete on the soccer field in multiple silly events to determine a winner. The winning team gets a huge prize… 4 fantastic t-shirts that were unveiled last Saturday. We have prepared a very special picnic dinner for the cabins: box lunches with RC Cola, Moon Pies, MacDonalds hamburgers, Bojangles chicken wings, mashed potatoes and gravy, canned green beans, Mac and cheese, towellette, and other delightful “country” treats. Dessert will be 200 feet of “gutter sundays” (rain gutters filled with banana splt fixings) served on the road. We are binging in 20 tents from Greenville to set up around the soccer field and the Program Staff will work hard manning all of the stations. It is going to be a really fun night.

Breakfast Club continued on the theme of Physical Growth with the other side of the “So What” question. On Saturday I urged the girls to consider how they present themselves to the world, today I urged the girls to consider how they “think of themselves”. The words we say to ourselves are the most powerful of words… what are those words and why. We considered the facts as presented in Scripture: We are made in God’s Image. God made us physically just the way we are and He does not make mistakes. We are Fearfully and Wonderfully made. That Heaven will see un in these same bodies, only better. Glorified in such magnificence that it is hard to imagine the glory. With such a foundation, we should confidently ignore our “flaws”… they are insignificant.

Thanks again for your friendship and support.
