Last night, we had our wonderful Counselor Talent show. We actually had two acts that were REAL talent. The rest were just fun and funny skits…the girls loved them all! Tonight they will be the campers time to shine when we do the Camper Talent show. In Junior camp, this is more group performances and a couple are even all camp participation for activities that they learned together (dance, cheerleading and singing).
We woke up to another beautiful day! It has been the warmest day of the session, but FAR from hot……as I have said earlier, perfect camping weather! For breakfast we had fruit bar, cereal, steel cut oatmeal, scrambled eggs, bacon and roasted potatoes. Lunch was salad bar, fresh baked bread, boneless pork chops, mashed new potatoes, apples, broccoli with Rice Krispie treats for dessert. Dinner is going to be the famous Taco’s in a bag, which is a favorite at Greystone!
We are now in our Rest Hour, and the girls are actually not resting as they are starting to get their things together for going home. As you can imagine, clothes, towels and other camp items get scattered during the week, so we are bringing them all back together again for tomorrow’s pick up. We had activities this morning, and will have some this afternoon, but unfortunately, the end is near and we must get ready!
Tomorrow, we will wake up at 7AM. After our Camper ONLY breakfast Banquet, the girls will be dismissed for pick up at 10AM. Parents may start arriving as early as 8:15AM, going to the track area just like on opening day. You will be allowed to go to your daughter’s cabin during our banquet, to retrieve her belongings from her bed and put them in your car. Make sure to check the counselor’s bed to sign your daughter out of camp and if she has medicine that needs to be picked up at the Health Hut, a reminder will be on that sheet. Some medicines will be delivered this evening and packed in your daughter’s trunk. The trunks and dirty clothes duffle bags will be delivered to the track area, and there will be help to load those things up (remember to check the luggage tag to see how many items we have delivered….example: the tag will read 1 out of 2, 2 out of 2 so you know you have 2 bags).
When you are packed up, you may make your way to our Shepherds gazebo on the padgent court by the flag, for coffee and conversation with Elizabeth and Laura, two of our Program Staff who are also former Greystone campers and counselors. They will love telling you all about the session and will be happy to answer any questions that you might have.
At 10AM when we dismiss the girls, they will go back to their cabins, where you may pick them up and speak to the counselor. We will e-mail you in a week with instructions about the summer of 2014, and your early bird options, so don’t worry about stopping by the office unless you have questions. The Greystone Store will be open at 8:15AM.
I am posting this news letter before the 3PM cut off time (so that it will be delivered to you today) and I will add pictures from last night and today in just a bit!
Have a GREAT day, Katie
