Wanna Winnie?

Ahh… the stories I could tell of our Minni-Winnie.

In 2003 Margaret and I decided to take the plunge and buy a 31C Minnie Winnie. From my father’s perspective, we had gone off the deep end. Now his neighbor not only boasted a yard that was never clear of colorful plastic toys (our children ranged from 4 years old to 10 and LOVED cheap stuff) but also that most iconic of Tacky Big Boy Toys… a Winnebago.

This is the workhorse of the line. Thirty One feet long with room for 8 to sleep “comfortably”, a gas range and oven, microwave, two tv’s, sink, shower, toilet, forced air AC and heat, a generator, and of course a “dump tank” (I will not elaborate). We would pile our family of 7 (plus two dogs) into the motor home and hit the road with glee. The refrigerator would be full of soda, the freezer full of ice cream, the cupboards full of microwave popcorn and chips, the cabinets would be stocked with board games and decks of cards, and we would have old episodes of MacGyver cued up on the DVD player. Talk about a childhood dream come true… this was it.

Honestly, there was nothing like the fun of loading up and pulling out of the driveway. It is very comfortable, especially if you hit traffic (as happened almost every time we were driving on I95 or approaching Atlanta). While other families were squirming in their SUV’s, we were enjoying all the comforts of home. Many wonderful memories were made in this vehicle… but we have out grown it.

We have not taken a trip in the Winnie in two years. That is just bad stewardship… so I am selling it. If any of you are contenplating a crazy Christmas surprise: here it is!

The Specs: 2003 Minnie Winnie with 38,000 miles. Tires replaced two years ago. It is in good condition (engine runs perfectly, AC great, batteries replaced a couple years back) and doesn’t have any of those suspicous odors that plague some motor homes. Carpet clean, but does show it’s age (back corners show a little gap, a couch cushion has a rip, the generator is sometimes hard to start). It is a great vehicle and needs a great home.

I am about to list it on RV Trader for $26,000, but would prefer to know that it is still in the family and will sell it to you for the Family rate of $24,000. If you have any interest, call our Maintenance Director, Sam Cudd (who has maintained the vehicle for it’s life and knows it well). Call camp and we will put you in touch with him.

Is this a strange blog post? YES IT IS…

The photos were taken today, it is cold and rainy. The leaves are almost gone now… but still quite lovely.
