The rundown…
It rained HARD just as we put out the picnic tables and started to transport the food to the picnic site by the lake. Rather than risk soggy food, we decided to eat in the dining hall.
This was third on our contingency plans… but it worked out fine. We played bluegrass music and ate a TON of good food. It was, in fact, the first corn roast that provided me a big dinner (usually I am out taking pictures). Julie Mallett was in the dining hall getting pictures, I can’t wait to see what she does with the challenging location!
Cat Williams decided to set up in the Gym rather than on our covered stage and she worked that gym like a pro! She is very good at getting the audience to sing and dance… lots of energy and some really great music. The gym is actually a wonderful venue, all wood construction and a 45 foot ceiling. We have a ceiling of white christmas lights strung overhead (left overs from a wedding several years ago)… it actually looked pretty good.
Ironically, the rain passed just as Kat started to play! That made the outside areas very pleasant to hang out in… Party Barges were cruising, Hay Rides putting, Candy Shop gathered and eaten, Root Beer consumed in massive quantities… lots of things to do in the cool misty air. The mountains were lovely, a dense fog enveloping most of the larger mountains and the lake completely still. It was really nice.
I am uploading some photos now… Kat is still playing, about to transition into some slower Gospel songs and a final Praise Song with the whole camp singing along. She really is a wonderful fit. We Love Kat!
Oh… one last thing. Drew and Ellie decided to man the root beer station. They filled pitchers from the kegs and handed out frosty cups filled with that delicious nectar to the campers. The girls LOVED it. These are not your typical celebrities.
Have a good night.
