Cleaning

For most of the year camp is empty. The “critters” of the country rule the land and slowly try to conquer the camp. Insects are the main offenders, but there are also a lot of squirrels and birds who think that they might have won the housing lottery. They find little gaps in walls and windows and start making their home in a perfectly wonderful place… then comes Lell.

Lell is in charge of “Services” at camp… when I say services you think “cleaning”. On April 1st, Lell assembled a team and started getting camp cleaned up for your arrival. We go into every cabin and take the bunks apart and pull them away from the walls so we can then go through and vacuum every little nook and cranny. It takes a skilled cleaning person about 1 day to clean 1 cabin! It is very hard work but it really makes a difference.

Next week we will put the mattresses back on the bunks and move everything into place for the summer. The final touch will be the final cleaning of the bathrooms, which all feature new shower doors this summer. It is more cleaning than most camps do, but the difference on opening day is worth the effort (nothing makes you feel better than a really clean cabin).

So when you come to camp, make sure you thank Lell for her hard work! She did it all for YOU!!!
