Farewell

Farewell… it is what you say when departing for an extended “trip”. That is what we are doing! The “real world” is an exiting vacation from the “bubble” that consumes our days, weeks, & months of summer. At first, the trip is anticipated with a great deal of expectation… but it is not long before thoughts turn to the reunion.

Only 289 days till Junior Camp!!! Time is flying by already!!!

The older I get the more clearly I see that time really does fly. I don’t accomplish nearly as much as I intend in a day, then the week goes by, then the month… if I am not careful an entire year is gone. For that reason we really don’t take a “break” from camp. Even now, our thoughts have turned to next year… who are the campers, who are the counselors, what “stuff” do we want to add (new rifles, paddle boards, and Dining Room sound system are on the list right now), what do we want to build (archery “shooting hut”, Gym patio, shower doors for bungalows and cabins, renovation of Cabin 12, renovation of the Vic and Hilltop), what new things should we add to the calendar? These questions already fill our heads and we will start making those preparations next week.

For now, we bask in the glow of a wonderful summer. I think it was our best ever… camp will never be perfect, but it sometimes gets close. This summer certainly hit the mark “in the black”… a bullseye shot if I ever saw one. I hold the target up, give a fist pump, and cheer!

Thank you… thank each and every one of you. Camp is wonderful because of the people who choose to call it home every summer. For 92 years, Greystone has been a “perfect” summer home to literally thousands of families across the world. We hope to ALWAYS be here for you…

Remember the lessons of camp: to GROW every day, to value friendships, to be your very best—- for the Glory of God!

We love you.
