It's Going to be a GREAT DAY

Greetings everyone.

First day of classes. Sunny, warm, light breeze, and all is well in the “Greystone Bubble”.

Opening Day really went very well, of particular note was the way the girls got into the routines of camp with very little fuss. Flag is a great example… we gather twice a day for flag. We do a quick head check and salute the flag while lined up in a lovely circle around the flagpole. It is not uncommon for the girls to take 15 minutes to do it right the first time… yesterday they did it in 7 minutes. Evening Program (counselor skits to introduce the various classes of camp) finished exactly on time. Taps was exactly on time. And the list goes on.

Time is very important at camp; we put a lot into each day and depend on such things as mealtime starting and ending like a machine. In this way the routines of camp become solid and dependable fixtures of our experience, leading to a nice comfortable feeling in the community. Later on we will break up the routine, but now it is our dear friend!

Soon you will get a card from your daughter’s counselor and a short letter from your camper (we have the girls send you their schedule along with a quick note… new routine this year). These will be mailed today, look for them to arrive accordingly.

Dinner last night was our traditional Spaghetti dinner, breakfast today our traditional fried ham and apples. I will give you updates on the details as the day goes on… check in if you have a chance.

We had a really wonderful lunch: Dorthy’s Chicken and rice, sugar snap peas, tossed salad, and bread. The bread is sublime… and I have to give a shout out to the salad bar. We run two large salad bars that are filled with chunky veggies, humus, guacamole, etc. It is wonderful… and almost never runs out. Amazingly good. I just wish I could have it in my house during the winter.
