Greetings everyone! This is our first of (hopefully) many updates from the barn as we get the horses ready for camp!
Unforturnately, not too much has been going on lately due to the large amount of rain we have been getting. We had two seperate floods, the first of which, Sunday March 16, flooded most of our paddocks around the barn as well as a little over half of the cross-country field. Fearing Green River would crest it’s banks and flood the rest of the field, and unable to lead horses back to the barn the normal way due to the flooding, we had to lead the herd back to the barn via the road with assistance from Jimboy and Catherine Miller.
Some of the fields re-flooded three days later after another all-day rain event. Luckily it didn’t flood as much.
While things have been drying up here over the weekend, there are still several large mud puddles around. One of which Annie, our miniature pony, found right before she came in from the field. She was promptly given a quick bath as soon as we got some pictures of her.
