Main Camp Opens and a word from a former camper parent.
At 7:30 this morning, the entire track was filled with cars from all over the United States… that is when we let the girls run up the hill to choose a bunk, and they absolutely love being the first one in the cabin. Amazing.
Greystone is a much loved place, filled with much loved people. The experience is largely the same for each generation of camper… especially delightful for the mother/ grandmother/ relationship to daughters. It is a bond that is deep and very much appreciated… I share this note with permission:
Jimboy,
Thank you for another wonderful June camp! Our daughter, Anna, had the most wonderful time and has been talking about it ever since Brian picked her up Friday morning. She was a little sad Friday night and her 9 year old brother turned to us and said instead of being home sick, mommy, Anna is “camp sick”. She missed it and was ready to come back. I believe she’s already recruited a friend to come with her next summer from all the stories she has told. I was a camper in the mid to late 70s (scary thought it has been that long) and it always warms my heart to hear Anna talk about the experiences she has had at camp – ones that were very similar to my camping days. We both reminisced this weekend. I get chills as we pull in the gate on Opening Day and run up the hill to get a top bunk in her cabin. The smells are the same – clean, fresh, mountain air and it all comes rushing back to me. It means the world to me that you and your family continue the tradition of such a wonderful place that has brought so many memories to so many girls. I am so excited that Anna and I have this to share and one day, Brantley, our 5 year old, will get to come and share in the Greystone tradition too. She thinks she should be able to come now from all that her big sister has told her. She was running around last night in her Greystone shirt that Anna brought her as a treat from camp.
Thank you again for taking such good care of the girls and giving them experiences that they could not get anywhere else. The friendships, the fun, the life experiences, the fellowship, the development of their personal faith journey, and oh the food!! And I could go on and on. It’s something so special that you can not get anywhere else. Anna has grown and thrived from her 4 summers at Greystone and can’t wait to continue for many years to come. We look forward to coming back.
Sincerely,
Leigh and Brian
