This big news this week is the trees. Jimboy blogged about it yesterday and I don’t know that there is anything that can trump this subject this week. We have all spent time watching this amazing process. Here is it in a nutshell. There is this guy who rides up the crane and gets placed at the TOP of the tree. He straps the top 20-30 feet of the tree to the crane and then climbs a little below the spot he is going to cut. He chainsaws through and it pops off and the crane maneuvers it to the ground not hitting the guy on the tree or any of the other trees. Remember there are branches to keep an eye on. Then the guy up in the tree climbs down about 20 feet and straps the crane to the next section. He slices it off and then that part gets set on the ground. Repeat, repeat until there is just a TALL stump. It is really amazing to watch. Sad, amazing, cool, sad, wondrous, dangerous, cool…so many things come to mind when you watch a process like this. I hope you enjoy the photos. I am working on getting them in the right order so you can get an idea of how this works…sometimes it is hard to see the guy up in the tree, but he is there. He spends most of the day up there.
We miss you all! Have a great week! More photos to come!!
