2012 and Credit Cards

You will notice a change to the application payment options for 2012 that may come as a surprise and raise some questions. For the summer of 2012 we will no longer offer a credit card payment option for tuition payments. You will still be able to use a credit card for your initial deposit and you will have the option pre-paying the entire tuition on a credit card, but regular tuition payments will be paid by check. This decision was made after very careful consideration. We know that it might be an inconvenience, but we also know that it will make camp better for all. Let me explain…Camp seldom has surplus cash at the end of the year. We spend lavishly on our facility, our staff, our equipment, our food… we strive for the best camp experience possible and that goal does not come cheap. We prioritize expenses based on their impact on the camper experience… credit cards do not have any impact the camper experience, thus they should not get a high priority. Credit Card expenses are actually very high. Last year we spent more on credit card fees than we spent on liability, property, and auto insurance combined! This is money that has no impact on the camper’s experience. It is more convenient, but does not seem worth the cost. Camp is a ministry. God is honored by our work and we do it for His Glory. This includes being a good steward of the business. We are confident that Greystone will be a better camp with this change, but if this policy is causing an undue hardship, please let us know. We can always accommodate reasonable requests. Thank you for your support.
