Finishing Well

Our camp year is divided into two parts… Summer and Winter. Summer does not happen unless we work very hard all winter, and that is the part that we are finishing this week.

Since Mid-August we have been working on MANY different projects… some were done in the fall (the grass around the Pavilion, new drainage around the cabins, a new Dining Hall porch, and a New Canoe Dock), some in the winter (Fine Arts Center renovation, painting of Dining Hall and Pavilion, new canoes, and new Stage Curtains and Lighting), and some are just now finishing (Salad Bar, Dining Room Addition, new rockwork around Tentalow 1 and 2, a staff house, ice sheds, landscape lighting, tennis courts, war canoe restoration, skee-ball arcade, new wireless headsets for drama, new laundry facility). Obviously, most of our projects get done at the last minute!

The work we do today has a significant impact on tomorrow. The big trees planted by the lake were planted 10 years ago but today they tower 70 feet. We planted them with the expectation of blessings many years later and their impact is just now becoming what we envisioned. Many of the projects we completed this year are the same way… the Dining Hall, the Ice Huts, the landscaping, the decks and porches, even the tennis courts will be enjoyed for many years to come (sometimes even for generations).

Our camp has always been here, and has always been run with a view to the next generation. In a country that does not value permanence, it is refreshing to find a place that plans extravagantly for the future. We finish our work each winter well so that we can promise the campers of tomorrow an experience even more wonderful than today.

Every year is the BEST YEAR EVER… this is going to be an amazing summer… and next year will be even better!

We are praying for you all… May God Bless You, we can’t wait to see Greystone filled to the brim with another wonderful loving community!
